Five members of the 2nd Battalion and a soldiers of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders aboard the transport Nevasa.  They are returning to India after a period of leave in the UK.

The 2nd Battalion Drum Major is in the centre at the rear.  The 1st Battalion of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders was based in India and Burma during this period.

Sahib is an Indian term that means 'Mister'.  It was commonly used as a respectful form of address towards soldiers and other Europeans by the Indian population.
